Lutetia at TAC: a fusion of café with art

CCIFT visited our member Lutetia at the opening of their new store last week at Chen Hsin General Hospital and were greated warmly by Cedric and his team with their delicious baked goods.

Lutetia is a small independently owned coffee shop in the heart of Tianmu serving probably the best coffee in Taipei, along with a range of breads and pastries baked on site daily at the Lutetia Bakery.

Lutetia at the Traditional Artc Center

In between conversations, Cedric mentioned their branch store at the National Center for is Traditional Arts where they welcome featured artists to exhibit in their cafe each month. The venue is perfect for hosting events and themed-nights where guest can enjoy a variety of finger food, baked goods from the bakery.

Up until 1st May, the cafe is featuring “Jitao & Kyle Baker: Two-Person Exhibition”

  • Jitao’s oil pastel paintings oscillate carefully between representation and abstract. The rich textures and intense colors can only be fully appreciated when viewed in person.
  • Kyle Baker’s works capture the “cultural story” of places in Asia that he has visited. Using graphite and charcoal on paper, his drawings depict everyday street scenes packed with details carefully and appreciatively observed.
